Beaconsfield Designs was established as a partnership with my sister, so we could hang out, have fun, and be crafty. Together we started working the craft show scene and had some good times.

Business started to grow, but my sister already had a full time career, so I took over. The results are for sale on Etsy, including stoneware bowls, sculpted mugs, vases, and accessories created with my handmade beads.

My Handmade Stoneware Beads...

With my pottery studio, there is plenty of scrap clay left over, but not nearly enough to bring back to Sheffield Pottery for reprocessing. I am not a big fan of waste, so I turn it into beads! I hand form them, and let them dry. Then they are bisque fired, filling any empty spaces in the bowls, mugs, or vases - a more efficient use of my kiln space. Next, I paint each and every bead two or three times depending on the glaze. One more firing and they're done! And there's just something about them - they are smooth and retain your warmth. The glaze flows and creates soft, rounded curves. Very organic, yet relatively consistent, as I am a creature of habit. The clay bodies vary, as well as the glaze selection, so if you fall in love with something, don't hesitate! Check out my Etsy store for Necklaces, Hair Sticks, Barrettes, Earrings, Bookmarks, and Strands.
